Day 1 - International Arrival

  • Meet & Greet and Assisted Arrival at Belize International Airport
  • Assisted Connection to Road Transfer - Belize International Airport to The New River (45 minute trip)
  • Jungle Riverboat Transfer into Lamanai Outpost - Habitat Interpretation enroute (70 minute trip)
  • Check-in followed by Welcome Cocktail, Facility & Program Orientation
  • Creatures of the Night – Guided Night Walk

Day 2

  • After breakfast – Introduction to Crocodilian Field Research – Practices, Objectives, Equipment & Safety
  • After lunch – Hands-on Airboat Orientation & Field Trip
  • After dinner – Crocodile Encounter

Day 3

  • Dawn coffee, juice & muffins on the dock – Review data collected the previous night
  • After breakfast – Tour & Explore the Lamanai Maya Ruins, Museum & Nature Reserve
  • After lunch – Introduction to Crocodilian Surveys – Objectives & Methodology
  • After dinner – Crocodile Encounter

Day 4

  • Dawn – Fieldwork Departure – Nest Survey – Field Breakfast
  • After dinner – Eyeshine Survey

Day 5

  • Dawn coffee, juice & muffins – Fieldwork Departure – Basking Survey
  • After breakfast – Data Review & Discussion
  • Mid afternoon – Canoe Excursion & Savannah Habitat Experience
  • After dinner – Introduction to Cat Research

Day 6

  • Dawn coffee, juice & muffins – Fieldwork Departure – Jaguar Tracking & Camera Trapping
  • Field Breakfast
  • Lunch & Discussion with Local Landowner Partners

Day 7

  • After breakfast – Data Summary & Visualization
  • Free morning to prepare for departure – Pre-Pack
  • Mid-afternoon – Fieldwork Departure – Turtle, Crocodile & Fish Survey & Data Collection – In Situ Farwell BBQ

  • After breakfast – Departure For Belize International or Island Extension
