Conclusions
The debitage assemblage recovered during the 1999 field season is fairly limited. Debitage recovered in the Spanish church area (N12-12), 'Ottawa' (N10-15, N10-28, and Plaza [N10]3), and the 'Giant Midden' (near N10-9) mainly comprises material recovered in collapse debris, core, and post abandonment accumulation. The total amount of debitage equates to 753 flakes compared to 1,127 flakes on and near 'Harold' (N10-27). Distribution of debitage flakes in the sample analyzed here was dependent on the type of contexts the excavations proceeded through. A greater number of flakes were found in midden areas, as was the case in the exploration around 'Harold'. The material recovered on and around 'Harold' (N10-27) is fairly well distributed between the two midden accumulations. In this limited sample area of N10-27 should be noted that there is a lack in primary reduction and thinning debris. As far as production is concerned due to the absence of primary decortification flakes in conjunction with the fact that no stone tool production areas have been located it is suggested that tools were not formally manufactured at Lamanai.
