These wonderful necklaces are handmade by a local craftswoman and their copper medallions are based on one of Maya’s spots.

Maya is the reigning female jaguar of the area and has been photographed in the Indian Church and San Carlos areas. She does not appear on camera often but when she does, it is with a look of focus and determination. The name “Maya” (or daisy) was derived from the flower-shaped rosette pattern found on her left flank. It is suspected that Maya may have had cubs with Mancha in 2011. She remains a resolute and vigilant force, always focused on the survival of herself and her kin.
